The Peddler Bike Shops are involved with the community. Besides sponsoring mountain bike and road racing teams, Hal and John participate in bike safety rodeos for the Optimist Club, Brain Injury Association, and Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis; provide free bike inspections and repairs at the WKNO Action Auction, Senior Services Midnight Classic, MS150, and Ducks Unlimited Great Outdoor Festival. Perhaps you have ridden your bike to a Memphis in May event and parked it at the secured bike rack? Those were the guys from the Peddler - their priorities are to ensure safe riding habits are established early and that more people enjoy the health and recreational benefits of bicycling.

| BIG NEWS:CSX BEGINS REMOVAL OF TRACKS
Our negotiating team recently met with a senior representative of CSX, in preparation for a final sale at a fair price. CSX is clearing a swath in order to make room for their very large machine which pulls up their track. They have a senior arborist as a part of their crew, and they promise that they will take as few of the larger trees as they can.
They are starting on the North side of Shelby Farms, and will work their way West. They hope it should take no more than three months to have the entire line cleared. We hope to have completed the purchase by then, and have it given to the county, which will then issue the Memorandum of Understanding to us. There is a second machine which we hope to have in place as soon as possible which grinds up the gravel underlayment, crushes it, and tamps it down.. and we have a useable trail. As soon as it is legal, we will begin scheduling cleanup days !

Double Decker Spring Ride-April 26th, 2008
Oxford Cycling is holding its annual Double Decker Road Ride on April 26, 2008. We will have a 24, 50 and 66 mile loop that meanders through the rolling hill country of Lafayette County with visits to a few Sardis landings.
The Ride will be fully supported; boasting pre-ride bike maintenance, 3 full service rest stops where you can top off with your favorite mid-ride snacks and rolling sag support for any mechanical issues or tired riders. We will provide a pre-ride refreshments consisting of hot coffee and bagels and pizza for post-ride refreshments.
The Charity's we have aligned with this year are Friends of Pete(local dog rescue shelter) and 9 lives cat rescue. Both charities are no kill shelters and operate on a spartan like budget helping their animals find homes.
The Swag Bag will be arguably the best of any charity event I have been involved with or ridden. We are finalizing the contents of the bag and will release the details as they come. The first item that is confirmed is a pair of socks from The Sock Guy. These socks retail for at least $10 and are the best performance socks on the market. If you haven't tried ona pair yet, you need to and you will never wear another brand of socks again! The other items we are working on will far outweigh the mere $25 entry fee($35 after April 11th, 2008).
You aren't sold yet??? How about the ride coinciding with Oxford's Double Decker Festival(DDF). The DDF in a nut shell, takes over the Downtown Square with pedestrian traffic, local artists peddling their wares, restaurants selling their flavors and bands playing all day. Heck, there is even a corner for younger kids to have fun. You can find more info at oxfordcvb.com about the DDF.

| Jeff Fejfar from Memphis Thunder Racing here. Just wanted touch base and let everyone know that MTR, along with Share the Road Midsouth, have the 2nd annual "Cycle for Safety" coming up again this year. The date for the event is set for Sunday, May 4, 2008. It will again take place at St. George's Collierville campus with portions of the event starting at 10am and being completed between 2-3pm.
-There will be two distance options for the long-ride. This will give a shorter route for those not quite ready to do a 50+ mile ride and also provide extra refueling stops for those doing the full ride out to Cory's memorial site.
We would also like to do another raffle and silent auction.
Thanks again for all your support in the cycling community!
Sincerely,
Jeff Fejfar
